Getting to Visegrad

Visegrad is located in the eastern part of the Republic of Srpska, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, near the border with Serbia.

Traveling by Car

Visegrad is well connected to other cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and traveling by car is the most practical way to get there.

If you are coming from Sarajevo, Visegrad is about 130 kilometers away, which means you can reach it in just over 2 hours of driving.

If you are coming from other cities, the routes are clearly marked, and you can reach Visegrad via several main roads:

  • From Sarajevo: Take the Bentbasha Tunnel towards M5 to Visegrad.
  • From Foca: Take the M20 road to Ustipraca, where you join the M5 road to Visegrad.

Bus Transportation

Visegrad is also well connected by bus to other major cities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Buses depart daily from Sarajevo, East Sarajevo, Mostar, Banja Luka, and Foca, and there are also routes connecting Visegrad to cities in Serbia, such as Belgrade and Novi Sad.

From Sarajevo to Visegrad, you travel on the M5 main road, covering a distance of 130 km, from Belgrade, you take the A1 highway to Cacak, then continue on the M5 main road through Cacak and Uzice, with a total distance of 270 km.

Train Travel

The nearest railway station in Bosnia and Herzegovina is in Sarajevo, about 130 km from Visegrad.

During the summer, it is possible to travel to Visegrad by a tourist train from Mokra Gora, which operates on weekends.

By Plane

If you are coming from abroad, the nearest international airport to Visegrad is Sarajevo International Airport, which is about 130 km away. From Sarajevo, you can continue your journey by bus, taxi, or car rental.

Tuzla International Airport is 150 km away from Visegrad, and you can continue your journey by taxi or car rental.
