In accordance with its commitments, “Prosvjeta” founded 65 libraries in 1922, including library in the Visegrad with the initial 388 volumes. Since 1933, a permanent library with 500 volumes and 80 permanent members has been operating in Visegrad.
The library became a memorial library “Ivo Andric”, in 1987. Thus, today, with six regional departments, counts over 40,000 titles, with an average annual number of 1,000 members.
The precious part is also the Memorial collection of the writer and Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric, which has more than 500 titles and periodicals in over 30 foreign languages.
The library received numerous awards, including the “Djordje Pejanovic” Plaket – Librarians` associations of the Republic of Srpska. The seat of this association is in Visegrad, where meetings of the librarians of the Republic of Srpska are held every year within the “Visegradska staza”.

The Cultural Center in Visegrad was founded in 1953. All cultural events are held in Cultural Center such as: theater performances, cultural manifestations and presentations of cultural arts and other cultural and educational activities. Today, the Cultural Center is an institution of special importance for the cultural activities of the municipality of Visegrad.
Also, the Drama Studio is located in the Cultural Center. Within 5 sections actively operate more than a hundred amateurs, children and youth. The most active is the drama section, which set on the scene 16 theater performances for children and adults, and played 68 times, of which 46 in Visegrad, during post-war years.

It is located in the city center, 500 meters from the bridge on the Drina. In 1892, in this place, the Basic National School was opened, and one of those who had learned the first letters here was our Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric. In order to pay off the part of the obligation to Nobel laureate who celebrated Visegrad, in 2008 the inhabitants of Visegrad founded a memorial classroom, which includes the setting of a school classroom from the beginning of the 19th century, as well as Andric’s photographs from Visegrad.
The memorial classroom is within the “Visegrad Culture Center” , so you can get all the information about visiting the Andric classroom at the Cultural Center, which is located in the neighboring building.

The Andric Institute is located in Andricgrad, it was founded on June 14, 2013. He is engaged in scientific research in the field of social sciences and humanities. In this sense, the Andric Institute offers the scientific, academic and professional community, as well as the general public, a new and more complete concept in research, organization, connection and promotion of different ideas and knowledge, in the spirit of the requirements of the time and environment, through research projects, scientific studies , journalism, congresses, conferences, symposiums, scientific gatherings, seminars, round tables, workshops, organization of educational, promotional and other special events, not only in Andricgrad, Republika Srpska and Republic of Serbia, but also beyond.
The Andric Institute achieves its scientific results in the field of social sciences and humanities through the work of five departments, namely: Department of Literature, Department of Serbian Language, Department of History, Department of Film and Media and Department of Ottoman Studies. By organizing conferences, seminars, scientific gatherings, publishing proceedings from scientific conferences, monographs in which scientific results related to certain anniversaries are presented, periodical publications, developing its library and gallery, the Andric Institute is already a recognized scientific and cultural name everywhere.
The Andric Institute established the “Ivo Andric Grand Prize” in 2015, which is awarded in two categories:
For life, literary creativity, which represents the overall contribution to literature and culture;
For the best book published in the Republic of Srpska and the Republic of Serbia in the year for which the Grand Prize is awarded.
